Review and GIVEAWAY - Chex Mix Bars

Welcome to what's becoming a weekly feature!  This week I'm reviewing the new Chex Mix bars.  (We actually had the Turtle flavor).  I had been eying these up every single time I went into the grocery store but hadn't gotten around to getting them.  When given the opportunity to review them, I totally jumped at the chance.

The bars have pretzels, Chex (obviously), peanuts, chocolate, and caramel.  For only 140 calories, they're pretty stinkin' sweet.  Far better than a pan sized brownie or a large bowl of ice cream when it comes to your waistline.  They also have 8g of whole grains.  And really, who couldn't use more whole grains?

Overall verdict in this house was good.  Bean liked them though she couldn't quite finish one.  Shaun LOVES them.  And I think they're pretty good, though they're certainly sweet.  (I'm the type who would rather have a pickle than a cookie, so it makes sense that I'd find them a little too sweet for anything more than, well... an indulgence).

And speaking of indulgences, three of you lovely readers will have the opportunity to win a "Basket of Indulgence."  Each basket contains a pack of the bars, a loofa, massager, nail brush, spa towel, candles, and caramel lotion.  (It smells like caramel, but it's not made of caramel... that could be messy).  (Also, do you say "cara-mel" or "car-mel"?  Only one way is right, obviously :)

Anyway, comment on this post with something you do to indulge yourself when you have some free time and as per usual, I'll use a random number generator to chose a winner at the end of the week.  This giveaway will end on Friday evening at 11:59pm.  If you'd like another chance to win, post about this on your blog and comment again.

And if you want ANOTHER chance to win, visit my funny friend Amy's blog and enter there :)

  2. Hey Jen! Even though I read your blog like everyday this is my first comment. I think Steven would LOVE these as well. One of the ways I indulge, esp. in the winter is by wrapping up in a cozy blanket on my couch, putting in a movie, and eating whatever I want. It doesn't happen very often, which is probably good for my figure.
    Love ya girl!
    P.S. I say cara-mel (obviously).

  3. Hmm... relaxing? Get a babysitter.

(I read "cara-mel", but when I'm just talking about it I say "car-mle" not even "car-mel"... how's that for confusing)

  4. It's totally car-mel. As for indulging myself? I think these days a trip to Giant alone is indulging myself! I am thinking of a relaxing mani/pedi day in the near future before I'm the mother of two kids!

  5. I say it both ways, depending on where I am. It doesn't make any sense to me either. I am a bubble bath girl...every night after my daughter goes to bed. Yummy candles and lotion would only make that time more indulgent.

  6. YUM!! They sound super good. I say car-mel- it's just easier. To indulge- sweets! Hoffmans, Russ', ZiPani, Starbucks... anything with lots of sugar and tastiness. man, now I want some junk food!

  8. I love the Chex Mix bars. I've had the Turtle ones as well and they're so yummy! hmmm... to indulge I love to read entertainment/ gossip/ fashion magazines (like people, comsmo, etc.) I RARELY buy them since it seems like something silly to spend money on so they're definitely an indulgence for me :-)

  9. A spur of the moment ideal indulgence is a good book and a cup of coffee and maybe something sweet to eat with it.
But if I had the time and the money, I would do a monthly day at the spa (The Pearl was great) for a massage and pedicure and of course a book for just relaxing.

  10. Time to myself? You must be joking. I have eight kids, remember? And I homeschool, too. And somehow manage to keep a husband. I'm even rocking a toddler to sleep as I type this. So no indulgences over here, though I do manage to fit in a minimum of two mugs of Senseo fully-caffeinated coffee a day, thanks to a generous freecycler.

By the way, *love* these food giveaways -- over here there is no such thing as enough food. Thank you!

  12. My usual indulgence: chocolate. I know, pretty predictable, but it's true!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  13. I like to eat chocolate and read a good book by candlelight in the bubble bath...even if I only have 20 minutes, it really relaxes me!
